Handmade Dolly for Ava

I made this for my great Nieces 1st birthday last month.
The photos aren't too good I'm afraid. and some of the quality has got lost in the upload too.

Doll. Rainbow bag. Blanket & Pillow. White Nighty/dress. T-shirt/blouse & Dungaree Shorts. Stripped t-shirt/top & Blue Pinafore Dress. Headband.

All Modelled by Ava's Dolly below... The little heart on her chest says "Made With love".

I sort of followed the pattern in the link below, adding a mix of the Bruno bear (modified pattern too, as seen/mentioned on the previous post to this one.) for her body. And I followed the pattern for the blue dress (though I excluded the buttons). But the rest I made up myself. This doll and her accessories took me a good couple or 3 of long weeks or so to make. You wouldn't think it would take so long for something so small would you!?

Some of my handy-work

This is some of my handy-work, iIn various stages. I'll update with the ones that need finishing once I've done them. I'm expecting my first grandchild in September. So I've been learning to knit and crochet, so I can make her some lovely hand-made things.

Two blankets and Bruno Bear

I made some modifications to the original pattern for Bruno. I'll maybe share a post with those modifications some time.

Baby Kimono
I'm using: Wendy, Beach Baby DK. Cream coloured yarn. The pink bits of yarn are just my stitch holders.

Strawberry Wrap - Cocoon/Pod
The yarn I used was: Stylecraft. Special Twirl DK. Colour: Cherry.
I used two yarns together and I think I used 7 1/2 mm circular needles.

I can't exactly remember if I used this pattern for the hat, as I remember looking at quite a few to try and fit in with my gauge of wool. But it should do.

Crochet blanket (my first)

I'd learned a tiny bit of crochet when I made this, I had no idea what stitch I was doing and was virtually making it up as I went along. I had a broken finger so I couldn't finish my knitting projects. But as my finger was healing I found I could hold a crochet hook. Thankfully I found some wonderful learning videos on-line and they have helped to teach me how to crochet. Sleepy Sheep was my second go at crochet then came Bruno Bear...

This blanket doesn't look at bad as it looks in this photo, I'll have to take some close ups and post them.
